Terms of use
The short version
untl is a free public website. You can use it for personal or commercial purposes. We don't promise the outputs are perfect, and you take responsibility for what you do with them. Last updated: 2026-07-27.
The longer version below spells out what that means in practice. By using the site, you accept these terms; if you don't accept them, please don't use the site.
What you can do
You can visit any page on untl, use any tool, copy the URL of any page, share any URL with anyone else, bookmark pages, and refer to the site in writing. You can use the computed values (the countdown numbers, the age calculation, the time conversions) for personal, educational, professional, or commercial purposes. Linking to any public page on the site is welcome.
You can refer to "untl" or untl.io by name in text without permission, with the usual courtesy of accuracy. The wordmark and brand assets are owned by the project; commercial use of those assets (logo, design system, brand name) in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation requires explicit permission.
What you can't do
You cannot pass off untl, or any of its tools, as your own product. You cannot scrape the site aggressively (no more than a few hundred requests per minute from a single source; if you need bulk data, the source code on the project's repository is the better starting point). You cannot abuse the "remind me" form or any future submission form to send spam, harass anyone, or harvest data. You cannot use the site to harm minors, distribute malware, or break the law in any other way.
If you embed our tools inside a product you're selling, the tools themselves remain free, but your product must not misrepresent the source of the tool or imply that untl endorses your product. A small attribution back to the source page is appreciated but not mandatory.
No warranty
The site, the source code, and the computed outputs are provided on an "as is" basis. We make no warranty, express or implied, about fitness for any particular purpose, accuracy of the computations, availability of the site, or completeness of the information. Calendar arithmetic is fiddly; while we test the math extensively and rely on standard algorithms (the Anonymous Gregorian computus for Easter, ISO 8601 for week numbering, the browser's native Date for timezone handling), edge cases exist and bugs are possible.
If you're making a consequential decision based on the output of one of these tools (legal deadlines, contractual dates, medication schedules, anything where being off by a day matters), please verify the computation independently. The site is a convenience, not an authority.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the project, its contributors, and Cloudflare as the hosting provider are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its outputs. This includes (without limiting the generality of the foregoing): missed deadlines, missed flights, missed medication doses, incorrect ages on legal documents, broken commitments based on a miscomputed countdown, or any other loss or harm that results from following a number on a page that turned out to be wrong.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the limitations above may not apply to you in full. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by the applicable local law.
Third-party content and links
The site links to third-party resources (Wikipedia articles for background, Google Fonts for typefaces, occasionally external software documentation, the design tokens file in the handoff folder). We don't control those resources, don't endorse any third-party content beyond the specific reference being made, and aren't responsible for the privacy or accuracy of anything reached via an outbound link.
If a link goes stale or points at the wrong page, please let us know via the channels on the about page so we can fix it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, particularly if the site adds functionality that changes the nature of what visitors are agreeing to (for example: if the "remind me" form ships as a real email service, if user accounts are added, if any commercial offering appears). We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when that happens.
Continued use of the site after a material change to the terms counts as acceptance of the updated terms. If you don't accept the change, your remedy is to stop using the site.
Privacy
Our handling of personal data and the third-party services we use (Google Analytics for traffic measurement, Google AdSense for advertising, Google Fonts for typography) are described on the privacy page.
Governing law and jurisdiction
The project is published as a public-internet resource without a fixed corporate home. To the extent any dispute arises that cannot be resolved by good-faith conversation, it should be brought in a venue with jurisdiction over the relevant parties. The relevant law is that of the user's habitual residence for consumer claims, and otherwise the law of the project owner's principal place of operation at the time of the dispute.
In practice: if something on the site looks wrong, please get in touch first via the contact channels on the about page. Most issues can be sorted out in an email exchange.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the project, its contributors, and Cloudflare from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that arise out of your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party right while using the site. This obligation survives the termination of these terms.
In plain language: if you do something on the site that gets us sued, that's on you, not on the project. We're not trying to be litigious here; this clause is standard for any public-facing service and exists mainly to keep the project's risk profile small.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving the original intent as closely as possible.
